Service Description

A child hygiene appointment begins with a thorough exam of teeth and gums to assess tooth eruption, adequate spacing, jaw alignment, possible oral habits (thumb sucking, tongue thrust, mouth breathing, clenching and grinding of teeth) as well as an oral cancer screening. We use both hand instruments and an ultrasonic scaler to gently break up the plaque and tartar that can build up below the gum line. Following, we use your choice of polishing paste and Xylitol (dry mouth) treatment, if necessary. Home care information and instruction are given as well as lots of encouragement.
